Smith's Counter Safe Deluxe Knife and Scissors Sharpener is specifically designed to sharpen the finest cutlery, as well as right- or left-handed scissors. This unit has an exclusive flip down counter guard to protect tables and countertops from damage during sharpening. Plus, it is the first manual sharpener to offer coarse and fine sharpening slots for both knives and scissors.
The knife sharpener features carbide blades for quick edge setting and triangular shaped ceramic stones for final edge honing. Because of the ceramic stones special shape, they can be used on both straight or serrated blades. The carbide blades and ceramic stones use pre-set sharpening angles to get the proper sharpening angle and guaranteed results every time you sharpen your knife.
The scissors sharpener uses a patented "FLOATING" ceramic rod that adjusts to fit the precise bevel of the blades.

care & useKnife Sharpening Instructions:
1.Hold the unit upright and open the flip-down guard.
2.Insert knife blade into the appropriate sharpening slot at a 90? angle to the sharpener.
3.Press down with moderate pressure and pull the knife blade through the sharpening slot.
4.Repeat this action until knife is sharp.
Reversible and Replaceable Carbide Blades and Ceramic Stones ¨C When the carbide blades or ceramic stones stop removing metal from the knife blade, they can be rotated for use on the other side or replaced. To rotate or replace, remove the two screws and the plastic cover. Remove the blades or stones and rotate or replace. If rotating blades or stones, rotate 180 degrees and place the top blade or stone into the bottom slot, and the bottom blade or stone into the top slot. Replace the cover and two screws.
Scissor Sharpening Instructions:
1.Hold the handle of the knife sharpener in your hand that is not using the scissors.
2.Open your scissors and insert the blades as far as possible through the appropriate side depending on Right or Left-Handed scissors.
3.Close scissors on the sharpening rod as if you were trying to cut the rod, then pull the scissors through the slots while trying to keep the blades closed. If preferred, push scissors through the unit instead of pulling. Repeat this action until scissors are sharp.
Optional, but 1st choice is to use if possible.
Caution: Always rest your sharpener on a sturdy, flat surface and use the handle of the sharpener for stability and control during sharpening.
Care & Use:
Always clean your sharpener after use. Clean with a damp cloth or non-abrasive brush. Do not rinse with water.
